Description

Espadrilles fourrées laine noire

Your new obsession for wintry days!

The pandemic and repeated lockdowns have changed our clothing habits. We are now surprised to choose pieces that we would probably have never worn two years ago... Now that stilettos are out, you have some room for comfort in your closet!

I redesigned our iconic style to make it your warm and soft ally this season... without compromising your style.

The Best Friend espadrille features afluffy shearling liner for an extra cozy effect. Available in two timeless colors.

Believe me, you will never leave them!

Resistance over time

The luxurious leather from the Basque Country is stain resistant thanks to vegetable oils. Great news: no care is needed!

I got precious help from textile experts to add a cotton liner between the shearling liner and the leather. It allows the leather to have a good hold and no stretch over time.

I also chose a very fluffy wool. It wil have good resistance to pilling. Of course, it remains wool: repeated friction of the foot may cause fluffy balls. In this case, you can place them back under the leather straps or cut them with scissors.

Comfort comes first

This espadrille fits less tight than the wool-free style for optimal comfort. Yet, they perfectly hold on to feet

You can wear them barefoot to enjoy the softness of the wool... or wear them with big socks, highly trendy this season!

Lastly, please note that that wool is fungicide and antibacterial. No bad smell to deplore! Thus, we stay glam from head to toes.

MADE BY HAND, JUST FOR YOU

Together, we protect a precious know-how

Because I never stop learning, and I discover myself a little bit more everyday, I took one more step towards what really matters to me. In order to choose the right life path.

Because I want to keep a tradition alive.

For all these reasons, I decided to become an artisan last year.

And I craft all your espadrilles entirely by hands, in my tiny workshop in Biarritz!

QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE

It all depends on how you want to wear them. If you want to wear them on the skin, I advise you to take your usual size. They tighten the foot less than the wool-free Best Friend for optimal comfort.

If you want to wear them with big socks, you should size up.

Large or thin feet? Please contact me for tailor-made free service.

Personally, I wear them at home without socks. Everyday. I wore them outside of the house until mid-November without being cold! The wool is very dense and keep my feet warm enough.

Did you know wool is heat-regulating. It'll keep your feet warm in Winter and will keep them cold in Summer. Which means you'll be able to wear them during Summer days without any problem!

I chose a400g/m2 wool, which is very dense. I sew by machine at the edge of each leather strap with a very tight machine stitch to prevent it from fraying.

Of course, it remains wool. Repeated movements of the foot may cause fluffy balls. All you have to do is cut them or put them back under the strap.

Our leather as been treated with natural oils to make it waterproof and stain resistant.

In case of a vinaigrette accident, the stain would remain on the surface. You'll just need to use a crepe brush to make it disappear.

The use of leather by sustainable brand is controversial.

I know that for many people, the question of animal suffering is the most important one.

I respect the values of everyone but I'd like to explain why we use leather

Shoe is the item that is the most challenged. After a few years of experience, the material that appeared to be the most robust was leather. Unfortunately, I'm sure many of you experienced having a hole in the front of your espadrille made of canvas after one season (the big toe usually tears the fabric).

Leather is solid enough to be worn often, is waterproof, breathable, absorbs humidity and odours while being comfortable.

Sourcing leather is crucial. We only work with French tanneries and one Italian family-owned tannery for the gold leather. The one that provides the upper leather is a member of the Leather Working Group. This label guaranties that the leather is tanned in compliance with sustainable practices.

The other tannery that provides us with the leather liner and insole only uses plants and trees, to tan the leather (extracts of quebracho, mimosa, chestnut).

I handcraft all of our espadrilles in my small workshop in Biarritz, South of France.

The natural jute sole is made in a small workshop in the Basque Country.

it is hard to answer this question since a lot things impact the wear of your espadrilles.

It depends of the frequency you wear them, how you walk, your feet morphology...

But one thing that is sure is that we broke down every parts to select the best materials and making processes.

An espadrille well made with high quality materials can be worn several seasons without any doubts!
